Once   upon  a   time,   a   student   of an  institution of higher learning, Federal Polytechnic Afikpo, in Ebonyi State, Nigeria, wanted to contest for the presidency of student’s union election. He was determined to win at all cost. Then, he joined a secret cult known as Ngeneukwuenu; in order to realize his ambition through diabolical means. But he failed to consider the consequences.

He pledged to sacrifice a cock monthly, to the deity throughout his lifetime. In exchange, the cult promised to help him win the election. He got initiated into the cult. Soon, he won the union election and became president. He honoured his vow of sacrificing a cock monthly to the god. Of course, he enjoyed his leadership of the students’ body. He made a lot of money out of it. He lived a luxurious life.
Years passed. And this young man left school. He forgot his covenant of monthly sacrifice to the god. He did not repent to accept Christ either. Therefore, he was left at the disposal of devils. Shortly, mysterious sickness came upon him. He was taken to numerous herbalists and hospitals for treatment; all to no avail. The sickness has rendered him useless in life. Up till this moment, he remains an imbecile!

A young boy gained admission into a University in Rivers State of Nigeria. The poor parents labored hard to pay for his school fees and upkeep in school. But the boy chose a wayward and easy life, that lead to his tragic sudden death.
He joined a cult in the school, which later metamorphosed into armed robbery gang. He went and acquired power of invincibility from the occult, so that gun shots and matchet cults wouldn’t have any effect on him. But the fake power couldn’t sustain him for long; for God Almighty said: “they shall be shamed, and also confounded; all of them: they shall go to confusion together that are makers of idol—Isaiah 45:16.

He and his gang members terrorized the city and environs; robbing, maiming, and killing people with impunity. Initially, they proved to be too hard for law enforcement agents to deal with. They lived expensive lives; and presented themselves as big boys in the campus. The boy had some flashy and exotic cars; he was driving around all over the place. As well, he rented a bungalow outside the University premises; all from the proceeds of series of robbery operations.

He frequented night clubs and hotels with girls. He lived ostentatious lifestyle despite being a student, and from poor family background. Hardly did he attend lectures, not talk of sitting in for examination. Therefore, he overstayed in school. He never graduated.

He was using his school enrolment to cover-up his robbery activities. The bandits had several gun battles with law enforcement agents, which left many of the former dead. He and few of his criminal gang were lucky to have survived it. But one day, he was eventually captured. His day of reckoning came.

He was shot times without number; but the bullets had no effect on him. He new he had appointment with death. For God said, “He who sheds blood shall have his own blood shed by man, for in the image of God made he man—Genesis 9:6. It dawned on him; his evil powers could no longer save him from death. Apart from using bullets, there are other ways of carrying out executions. There are many ways to kill a rat!

He opened up and told the Police he had decided to die on his own. He requested for razor blade which was given to him. With the blade, he cut himself, and blood oozed out. He fell down and died instantly. He died in his prime and left behind his ill-gotten wealth. Later, remaining members of bandit were wiped out.

God Almighty said, “bloody and evil men shall not live out half their days. They are like some grass that grow on the field that will soon be cut down. He who is often advised and hardens his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed and without remedy. He that lives by the sword shall perish by the sword. As the partridge sits on eggs and hatches them not, so is he that acquire riches in unjust way, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at the end shall be a fool.”

Once upon a time, a young man gained admission into a University. And due to peer pressure, he made up his mind to join a secret cult in the campus. During the ‘interview’, he was subjected to thorough beating: to enable his interviewers ascertain whether he was tough enough to be a member. Ability to endure beating, is a necessary criterion for membership of secret cults in the campuses: as fighting and violence, are part and parcel of cultism in schools. He was given several heavy slaps on the face. He didn’t shake or shed tears. Then, they knew he was the kind of hardened person they were looking for. Needless to say, he gained admission into the cult, along with other ‘tough’ applicants. He participated actively in fighting against rival cult groups.
He was a drug addict and hemp smoker. His life-style revolved around violence and illegalities. One day, their ‘capul’ (leader of a cult in the campus) summoned an urgent meeting of cult members. There, he outlined the task ahead of the cult: including going to fight against rival cult groups. He told the gathering their colleagues, in another Institution of Higher Learning, sent ‘SOS’ to help them fight a rival cult in the school.

He estimated the cost of leading a detachment of ‘warriors’ to the school, to run into thousands of naira. He told them for the money to be raised; some members should go and mount ‘road blocks’. Mounting road blocks, is an expression used by cult groups for robbery operations. The young man was among those drafted for the robbery operation. He participated in recent robberies uncaught. However, that particular operation happened to be his last.

They went out in the night to rob motorists. Police were informed, who rushed to the scene promptly. There was exchange of fire. Police shot and killed the rest of them. He escaped unhurt. Soon he began to reflect on his narrow escape. He had close shave with death. It later dawned on him God preserved his life for a purpose. “He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he has put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God. Many shall see it and fear, and trust in the Lord” – Psalms 40: 2-3.

Eventually, he joined a Christian fellowship in the Campus. He repented genuinely to serve God. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour. Of course, he renounced his membership of secret cult. He discovered that peace of mind could only come from serving God. “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” – John 14: 27.

His newfound relationship had given him eternal hope. He was deceived into joining cult in the school. He now preaches to students and others, that cultism and reading of occult materials lead to mental problems, and hell fire.

“For thou have broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian”—ISAIAH 9:4.

When I was very young (about ten years old), I was taken to a cassava farm. At the end of harvest, a basket fully loaded with cassava, was placed on my head to carry home. It was too heavy for me. It was a yoke on me. Instantly, I experienced pains all over my body. My neck was sagging. I began to walk home with the heavy load. I was moving slowly. I was sweating profusely; and finding it difficult to breath. Needless to say I was in agony.

Passers-by were hailing me for my gallantry; in carrying such a heavy load. Little did they know I was suffering terribly inside. I pretended as if all was well. However, when the suffering became unbearable, I screamed for help. Who shall deliver me from this burden?

When my mother heard of my ordeal; she came to my rescue. On seeing my terrible condition; she quickly threw away the basket of cassava into the nearby bush.  She straightened my neck and petted me. She carried me home on her back. On arrival, she removed my dirty clothes and bathed me. I was given clean clothes to wear. My lovely mother set a nice meal before me on the table. After eating to my satisfaction, and drink some cups of water, I went to bed.

I had a nice sleep. When I woke up, I was very refreshed. How grateful I was to my mother, for delivering me from the yoke of a basket of cassava! Same way Jesus delivers all who come to him from the yoke of iniquities. “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and  lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light— Matthew 11:28-30.

Some ungodly people may be hailing you for your sinful indulgence: your evil powers, and so on. But deep inside you, you are suffering from satanic yoke. Someone in a secret cult, or who patronizes juju men, is under the yoke of the devils. Cry out unto God now for your deliverance and salvation. Don’t wait for devils to ruin you completely. Today is the day of salvation.

Evangelist Joseph U. Afurobi

For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and show signs and wonders, to seduce if it were possible, even the elect”.

A man grew up from idolatrous family. His father was  chief priest of a deity. He was initiated from his infancy into the deity; to succeed his father as chief priest of the shrine, after the demise of the latter. He was living what appeared a normal life then. As time went on, the father died and was buried. He was called upon by the ungodly elders in his village, to take over as the next chief priest of the deity. He bluntly refused.

The young man finished his education up to University level. He got a lucrative job in the city. and began to work. At the close of work, he would usually attend parties and nightclubs; and have fun. He was a womanizer and a drunkard. He was changing woman, as often as a woman changes wrapper. But one day, something unusual happened to him. He visited a nightclub as usual. There, he saw a beautiful lady, whom he approached. He didn’t know she was a demon. Eventually, she agreed to follow him to his house for a fee.

On reaching his house, he entertained her with food and drinks. Shortly, he took her to his bedroom. He undressed; and told the woman to do the same. She refused, and warned him not to put off the light. He disobeyed and switched off the light. She went and put it on. When the man made the second attempt, the light couldn’t switch off. Instantly, the woman changed to a beast.  It then dawned on him he was dealing with a demon. He was very frightened. He attempted to run out of the room, he couldn’t; for the demon was appearing in his front, and blocking his movement. At last, the demon said she came to him for a mission.

She said further that the deity had decided he must be his “prophet,” operating through the gifts of evil spirits. He must open his own church, and name it “Church Of Saint Thomas The Divine” in Jos, Nigeria. She gave him directives on how to establish it. She promised to help him raise the initial money, to pay rent for the hired building, among other things. Right inside the room, she got him “anointed” for the job as a prophet of the devil. The young man had no choice. He was at the mercy of the demon, he brought home to have fun with.

Within a short time, he rented a warehouse for his occult church. He purchased chairs, and prepared the altar. As well, he decorated the new church. Demons were actually helping him. The woman from the demonic world started to make frequent appearances to him. Soon, worshipers began to troop into the place; because the false prophet in-charge, was performing outstanding miracles and healing. He had a prophetic ministry from the devils; a diviner.

He could tell his adherents their life history. Also, he could describe their homes accurately; and tell them the exact dates they were born. He was able tell them those responsible for their afflictions: uncles, brothers, colleagues in  offices, or in their residence. He was a glorified diviner. Through his divination, he was scattering families and colleagues.

People began to rush to him for divination (sorry prayers). At every stroke of prayer, he would see vision. He was sending ‘planting demons’ under his command, to afflict people living around with various sicknesses and problems. Then, he would send withdrawal demons to withdraw the afflictions. People wrongly thought signs and wonders were taking place there; and were pouring in. He was making a lot of money. Members of his congregation and other clients, were falling on top of each other to make donations: for one white-elephant project, or the other.
